Sodomy Law in Maryland

On January 20, 1999, the Washingon Post reported on the Maryland Judge's ruling that Maryland's sodomy law could not be applied to consensual acts.

Rather than remove the law from the books, Andrew H. Baida, an assistant attorney general for Maryland, said that authorities would prefer to keep the law so they could more easily prosecute cases of sexual assault, prostitution or sex in public.
