Arkansas sodomy law only bans consensual sexual acts involving adults of the same sex. Heterosexual adults are permitted to engage in a broader set of consensual sexual acts. Code section 5-14-122 requires "penetration, however slight" as part of the criminal act.
The penalty for a successful prosecution is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by a sentence of up to one (1) year and a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000).
