Anal sex is an act, not a membership card. Surveys of heterosexual adults have found substantial rates of lifetime experience. The law’s obsession with male-male pairs was a policing choice, not an anatomical one.

The rectum is not designed as a reproductive canal. That does not mean it cannot be involved in sex with care. It does mean lubrication, patience, and attention to pain are not optional accessories. Persistent pain, bleeding, or bowel-control changes are reasons to see a clinician, not to consult a forum.
“You can tell by looking.”
No. This one survives because people enjoy believing they have x-ray morals. They do not.
“STIs only go one way / barriers are optional if you know them.”
Several infections transmit efficiently via anal sex, including HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, HPV, and hepatitis. Knowing someone is a feeling. Testing and barriers are practices. Both can exist in a decent relationship; only one belongs in a risk model.
